Production Chemist

Description:

Element Staffing is recruiting for a Production Chemist for a specialty reference materials and analytical standards company in the South Houston area. The Production Chemist will be responsible for preparing, blending, and verifying reference materials using established laboratory protocols and quality procedures. This role requires strong attention to detail, comfort working in a hands-on production laboratory environment, and the ability to safely handle chemicals, compressed gas cylinders, and laboratory equipment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and blend specialty gas and liquid reference materials according to established laboratory procedures and specifications
  • Perform weighing, measuring, and blending calculations using fractions, ratios, percentages, and proportions
  • Apply Ideal Gas Law concepts and organic chemistry principles during blending and production processes
  • Handle compressed gas cylinders, chemicals, laboratory supplies, and blending equipment safely and accurately
  • Follow established SOPs and laboratory protocols to ensure product quality and consistency
  • Verify balances, masses, and laboratory equipment calibration status prior to production activities
  • Maintain accurate production documentation, blending records, and batch information
  • Support quality assurance activities and participate in non-conformance report (NCR) investigations as needed
  • Ensure laboratory equipment remains in proper working condition and notify management of operational issues
  • Assist with inventory control, material handling, cylinder movement, and laboratory organization
  • Maintain compliance with ISO 17025, ISO 17034, and ISO 17043 quality standards and documentation requirements
  • Safely handle hazardous materials in accordance with SDS guidelines and company safety procedures
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe laboratory work areas
  • Collaborate with analytical, quality, and production teams to support operational goals and timelines
  • Assist with special projects and cross-functional laboratory activities as assigned

Additional Requirements

  • Years of Experience: 2–5+ years of laboratory, blending, production, or chemical manufacturing experience
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related scientific field required
  • Shift/Travel: Monday–Friday, Day Shift
  • Compensation: $28-32/hr DOE
  • Assignment Type: Contract-to-Hire
  • Location: South Houston, TX Area
