Meta Tech Industries is growing and expanding its machining capacity to support increasing demand across oil & gas, space, and defense industries.
This role is critical to producing complex, tight-tolerance components from exotic materials , and is ideal for a machinist who can own the entire process — from programming to setup to finished part.
The Work You'll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
Program, set up, and operate Okuma CNC lathes independently
Machine complex precision parts from print/model to finished product
Work with live tooling / mill-turn operations (when applicable)
Select tooling, set offsets, and establish workholding
Perform first-piece and in-process inspection
Hold tight tolerances on high-spec components
Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust feeds, speeds, and offsets
Identify and correct out-of-tolerance conditions
Collaborate with production, quality, and leadership to resolve issues
Support and mentor less experienced machinists as needed
Maintain a clean, organized workspace and perform basic machine maintenance
Machines, Controls & Equipment
You'll be working with:
Machines: Okuma CNC lathes (single turret, live tooling / mill-turn)
Controls: Okuma OSP (REQUIRED)
Inspection Tools: Calipers, micrometers (ID/OD), depth gauges, indicators, scales
Materials You'll Work With
Stainless Steel
Alloy Steels
Exotic Materials (common in oilfield, aerospace, and defense applications)
? What We're Looking ForRequired:
5+ years of CNC lathe machining experience
Strong experience with Okuma OSP controls
Ability to program, set up, and run independently
Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T
Strong understanding of tooling, inserts, boring bars, and workholding
Experience using precision measuring instruments
Solid math skills (geometry, basic algebra for machining calculations)
Ability to communicate clearly in English (written and verbal)
Adaptability in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
Preferred (Not Required):
Experience with live tooling / mill-turn lathes
Experience machining tight-tolerance parts in aerospace, oil & gas, or defense
