Journeyman Electrician / First-Class Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Electrician / First-Class Electrician with strong technical skills in electrical and electronic systems, preferably in a marine or shipbuilding environment. The ideal candidate will have a background in power distribution, motor control, and cable testing, with the ability to interpret electrical schematics and follow complex installation and troubleshooting procedures.

Journeyman Electrical/1st class Responsibilities:

  • Layout, install, and repair shipboard cables, lighting systems, and electronic equipment.
  • Work on ship's power systems and integrate electrical components according to engineering specifications.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and a variety of electrical test equipment.
  • Set up and use test equipment for electrical and electronic systems, including cable testing (CAT 5, Fiber Optic).
  • Perform work according to electrical schematics, drawings, and written procedures.
  • Install and troubleshoot motor control systems and power distribution systems.
  • Test and support shipboard systems including power, combat, radar, sonar, and communication systems.
  • Work in a physically demanding environment, including confined spaces, heights, and various weather conditions.
  • Adhere strictly to safety procedures and promote a safe working environment.
  • Flexibly support day or night shifts based on construction schedules.
Journeyman Electrical/1st class Position Requirements:
  • Minimum of 4 years verifiable experience in the electrical/electronic field.
  • Experience with test equipment setup, handling, and cable testing (CAT 5 and fiber optic).
  • Proficient in working with motor control systems and power distribution networks.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to follow complex schematics and test procedures.
  • Knowledge of high-voltage electrical applications and marine/defense systems is preferred.
  • Experience with the operation and testing of power, combat, communication, radar, and sonar systems is a plus.
  • Comfortable working multiple shifts and in physically challenging environments.
  • U.S. Citizenship or authorization to work in the U.S. (required due to federal contract obligations).
