Position Overview:
The FS Solutions Manager - Generator (SME) serves as Integra's primary expert for generator systems supporting modular data centers and mission-critical infrastructure. Embedded within Integra's manufacturing operations (Akron, Harrow, Houston, etc.), this role provides full lifecycle technical leadership-from equipment build and testing to field commissioning, troubleshooting, and ongoing service performance.
As the organization's senior generator specialist, this role delivers Level 2 (L2) technical support, leads complex diagnostics, performs root-cause analysis, trains technicians, and supports customer and vendor engagements. The Solutions Manager improves system reliability, enhances field capability, and ensures that Integra's generator assets meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Factory Integration & Technical Leadership
• Serve as the on-site generator systems SME across Integra manufacturing locations, maintaining deep knowledge of generator design, assembly, controls, and operations.
• Support factory testing, FAT processes, validation, and commissioning to ensure performance, safety, and quality compliance.
• Provide engineering and manufacturing teams with actionable insights on recurring issues, quality concerns, and product improvement opportunities.
Generator System Support & Troubleshooting
• Lead advanced diagnostics for mechanical, electrical, fuel, and control system failures.
• Conduct root-cause analysis to resolve operational failures, abnormal equipment behavior, and performance issues.
• Perform or supervise complex corrective repairs, commissioning recovery, and emergency support for mission-critical generator systems.
• Execute and interpret load bank testing to verify capacity, stability, and operational performance.
Remote Technical Support (L2)
• Serve as the primary L2 escalation resource for the Field Service team.
• Provide remote troubleshooting using schematics, system data, and live technical consultation.
• Develop troubleshooting guides, standards, and knowledgebase content for field technicians.
Training & Technician Development
• Deliver factory and field-based generator training covering operation, maintenance, safety, diagnostics, and hands-on systems work.
• Evaluate technician competency and reinforce best practices through ongoing coaching and site visits.
• Continuously improve technical training programs by integrating lessons learned, updated procedures, and emerging technologies.
Customer, Vendor & Internal Stakeholder Engagement
• Represent Field Service during high-complexity technical calls with customers and vendors.
• Communicate diagnostic findings, repair strategies, long-term maintenance recommendations, and system behaviors with professionalism and clarity.
• Collaborate with engineering, QA, and manufacturing teams to address systemic issues and enhance product reliability.
Recruiting, Onboarding & Team Development
• Support interviews and technical evaluations for Field Service Technician candidates.
• Assist with onboarding, skills assessments, and reinforcement of Integra's safety and quality expectations.
Operational Excellence & Safety
• Maintain accurate service records, logs, documentation, and parts usage history.
• Adhere to NFPA, NEC, OSHA, and all applicable safety protocols.
• Participate in on-call rotations for emergency generator support.
• Ensure tools, equipment, test devices, and vehicles are properly maintained and calibrated.
Perform other duties as assigned to support operational and organizational objectives.
Qualifications:
• Expert-level knowledge of industrial generator systems including diesel/natural gas engines, alternators, governors, ATS, control panels, and fuel delivery systems.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and control systems troubleshooting capability.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line drawings, load calculations, and technical manuals.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to represent technical decisions to customers and vendors.
• Willingness to travel frequently between factory and field locations.
• 3+ years of generator field service experience including installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair (mission-critical strongly preferred).
• Experience performing load bank tests, tuning generator performance, and diagnosing advanced failures.
• Background providing L2 technical support or mentoring junior technicians is highly desirable.
• Experience working with modular systems, industrial facilities, or data center infrastructure is a strong advantage.
• Prior collaboration with engineering, QA, manufacturing, or service organizations on product issues and continuous improvement.
• EDUCATION High school diploma or GED required.
• Preferred education includes:
o Associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Power Generation, or related technical field
o Completion of manufacturer or trade-school generator training programs
• Valid driver's license (required).
• Preferred/beneficial certifications:
• EGSA certification
• OSHA 10 or 30
• NFPA 70E
• ASE, electrical, or mechanical trade certifications
• Ability to safely lift 50 lbs and work in varied climates, confined spaces, and elevated locations.
• Industrial generator diagnostics (mechanical, electrical, controls)
• Load bank testing and performance interpretation
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical documents
• Familiarity with ATS, governor controls, and PLC interfaces
• Strong analytical, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving capabilities
