The Director Of Housekeeping will be responsible for managing all facets of the housekeeping department and public areas. The candidate will also be responsible for inventory control, budgeting, associate development and training, staffing and maintaining the quality of cleanliness of rooms product and overall hotel based on hotel standards and objectives./ppSpecial Qualifications, Education, or Licenses:/pulliHigh school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate/liliAssociates degree or the related equivalent number of years of experience/liliFive (5+) years of housekeeping experience in a similar position in an upscale Hotel/liliThree (3) to Five (5) years of experience in a managerial / capacity/liliAbility to communicate in English both verbally and in writing/liliCompute basic arithmetic to include percentages/liliKnowledge of proper cleaning techniques and chemical handling, requirements, and use of equipment/liliKnowledge of the states Unit of Health regulations/liliCertification in CPR and First Aid/li/ulpJob Tasks:/pulliDirects Housekeeping staff assignments within budget with quality and on schedule./liliMaintains the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and the appearance of Housekeeping areas and performs regular inspections of areas and rooms for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of assigned duties./liliAssures that housekeeping staff follows established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies at all times./liliProvides departmental training needs and provides such training./liliDirects the development and performance of staff; and handles disciplinary problems and counsel associates according to Hotel standards./liliWorks well under pressure of organizing and attaining production schedules and timelines./liliPrepares and administers timely Performance Evaluations according to hotel standards./liliAbility to comprehend P L statements, budget reports, and write the commentary./liliMaintains complete knowledge of and complies with all departmental, divisional, and hotel policies, procedures, and standards./liliOversees/Leads/Participates in the Rooms Preventive Maintenance Program./liliAnticipates guests needs and responds promptly to guests requests./liliMaintains positive guest relations at all times./liliResolves guest complaints ensuring guest satisfaction./liliIs familiar with all Hotel services/features and relevant local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately./liliMonitors and maintains cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas./liliReviews the daily activities, such as:/liulliHouse count/liliForecasted covers for each outlet/liliCatering activity/liliPurchases/liliMeetings/liliAppointments/liliVIPs/special guests/li/ulliMonitors the performance of staff and ensures all procedures are completed to the department standards; rectify deficiencies with respective personnel./liliCompletes work orders for maintenance repairs and submit to Engineering. Contacts Engineering directly for urgent repairs./liliFosters and promotes a cooperative working climate, maximizing productivity and associate morale./liliInterviews and hires new personnel according to Hotel policies and standards./liliPrepares daily/weekly payroll reports./liliDocuments pertinent information in the logbook and follows up on items notated during other shifts in a timely fashion/liliInputs and accesses information in the computer and/or point of sales system./liliPlans and conducts monthly departmental meetings and Daily Shift Meetings (DSM)./liliMaintains complete knowledge at all times of status of hotel room count, group arrival, VIPs, special events and knowledge of job responsibility of staff./liliAssigns designated keys, radios and beepers to assigned staff. Maintains an accurate record of such and ensures the security of keys./liliInspects guest rooms, guest corridors, elevator foyer area, vending area, service area including linen closet, staff restroom, storage area, and dry-cleaning and laundry areas./liliInspects public areas/bathrooms, restaurants, spa, pool area, offices and service areas after being cleaned by respective personnel, using designated checklists. Directly contacts respective personnel and relays any deficiencies to be corrected./liliEnforces safety standards, including blood-borne pathogens training and immunizations, MSDS training and proper lifting techniques./liliStocks all housekeeping areas with supplies./liliContacts outside services if necessary./liliOperates within budget guidelines./liliCoordinates special projects in a timely fashion./liliReviews all out of order rooms daily with respective departments to determine the most current status and re-confirms the estimated date of return to inventory./liliAttends designated meetings./liliKnowledgeable of the BBP Exposure Control Plan and makes recommendations when necessary./liliMaintains and follows OSHA regulations/MSDS./liliResponsible for overseeing the implementation of hotel-wide standards./liliPrepares weekly work schedules in accordance with staffing guidelines and labor forecasts.
