Job Title: Engineering Operations Manager (Manufacturing / Supplier Operations)

Job Location: Houston, TX (Remote)

Pay Rate: $45.50- $49.57/ hour on W2 only

Job Type: Contract – 5 months

Hybrid role: Mostly remote with travel to local supplier sites approximately 1–2 days per week

Houston-based candidates only

Work Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Assignment Duration 18–20 weeks

Mileage reimbursement and one meal reimbursed on travel days

Role Overview

This role is listed as an Engineering Operations Manager but functions primarily as a Manufacturing / Supplier Operations Engineer. The position supports supplier operations producing modular data center components, including fabrication (welding) and electrical assembly. The focus is on monitoring supplier performance, understanding production flow, and communicating operational status.

Key Responsibilities

• Support supplier productivity, efficiency, and process improvements
• Review and evaluate manufacturing line layouts, work instructions, capacity, and staffing levels
• Monitor product changes and assess operational impact
• Understand supplier workflows, production flow, and constraints
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation
• Communicate supplier status, risks, and operational updates to internal stakeholders
• Attend internal and project-related meetings
• Travel between supplier sites within the Houston area as needed

Required Skills & Experience

Must-Have Skills

• Operations or manufacturing experience
• Understanding of manufacturing environments
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Strong communication and stakeholder update skills

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with fabrication and assembly operations
• Knowledge of welding and/or electrical engineering concepts
• Exposure to supplier or vendor operations

Experience & Education

• 2–5 years of relevant experience preferred (no upper limit)
• College degree preferred but not required if equivalent experience is demonstrated

Software & Tools

G-Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, Meet)

Work Environment

• Supports an internal full-time engineer and meets with them 1–2 times per week
• Operates largely independently day-to-day
• Regular interaction with supplier teams

Interview Process

• First Round: Virtual interview with Hiring Manager
• Second Round: Virtual interview with Engineer or Team Lead
