Veteran Support Specialist for Suicide Prevention

As a Suicide Prevention Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in the development and execution of our suicide prevention initiatives. You will coordinate training, assist in program evaluations, and provide administrative support. By working closely with warriors, team members, and community partners, you will help raise awareness and connect individuals with crucial resources.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate training schedules, manage calendars, and ensure effective communication with teams and partners.
  • Assist in recruiting participants for training and coordinators through outreach.
  • Maintain program quality by aligning with established curricula across Mental Health and Wellness teams.
  • Develop new training modules to enhance existing offerings.
  • Help facilitate additional training opportunities, including train-the-trainer sessions.
  • Collaborate with various departments to optimize logistics and prevent redundancy.
  • Support implementation of early detection tools and effective interventions.
  • Document and report on programs to aid in tracking and updates.
  • Ensure all training activities meet grant requirements and standards.
  • Act as a liaison among departments like IT, Marketing, and Media for training needs.
  • Create course materials, including objectives and participant manuals.
  • Monitor grant compliance and reporting processes.
  • Track program performance and generate reports for internal initiatives.
  • Serve as the main contact for recruitment and compliance monitoring for training.
  • Represent the program in briefings and trainings as a subject matter expert on suicide prevention.
  • Participate in required training and meetings to develop skills and team cohesion.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and collaborate effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to represent WWP professionally.
  • Effective facilitation skills for leading trainings in various settings.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing schedules and prioritizing tasks.
  • Experience in developing training materials tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams with a proactive mindset.
  • Commitment to community service and nonprofit experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with virtual communication tools.
  • High emotional intelligence and cultural awareness in discussing sensitive topics.
  • Detail-oriented to maintain documentation and ensure compliance.
  • Understanding of suicide prevention principles and mental health advocacy.
  • Strong ethics and integrity in personal and professional conduct.
  • Passionate about WWP's mission and values.

Experience Requirements:

  • Three years of experience coordinating training programs.
  • Two years in veteran-focused mental health settings or case management.
  • Two years in trainings for adult learners.
  • Two years in program metrics.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four years of experience supporting wounded service members.
  • Three years designing curriculum-based training.
  • Three years in delivering mental health training.
  • Understanding of nonprofit management and grant-funded initiatives.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Education:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.

Certifications:

  • Valid state driver's license and ability to obtain ASIST Certification within one year of hire.
