Job Title: Dental Assistant

Job Type: Temporary, Floater

Job Salary: $18.00 - $19.00/hour depending on experience

Job Schedule: M-F, 40 hrs/week

Role Summary

Temporary, full-time float dental assistant supporting community dental programs and rotating assignments based on operational needs. The Dental Assistant performs four-handed chairside assisting and clinical support in accordance with program protocols. Candidates must hold a current, valid Texas Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license at the time of application ?and be fluent in Spanish. This role requires frequent travel to community sites and mobile units.

Key Details

  • Typical Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with 1 hour lunch (40 hours/week); some assignments may follow a 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. schedule
  • Travel Requirement: High — must be very comfortable with frequent travel and flexible assignments
  • Transportation Requirement: Reliable transportation for travel between sites and to community events

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Fluent Spanish speaker required (verbal and written).
  • Current, valid Texas RDA license (must be valid at time of application).
  • Experience with four-handed chairside assisting, dental radiographs, and intraoral photography.
  • Experience charting in electronic dental records; Dentrix experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and to stand and bend for extended periods.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Chairside Support: Provide four-handed chairside assisting for dentists and dental staff.
  • Clinical Tasks: Take and record vital signs; take prescribed dental radiographs and intraoral photographs; chart diagnoses in Dentrix as directed by the dentist.
  • Operatory Setup: Prepare operatories for each patient, including barrier placement and instrument/material selection per planned procedure.
  • Infection Control: Sterilize instruments; perform weekly biologic monitoring for autoclaves; complete daily/weekly/monthly preventive maintenance; report equipment issues.
  • Patient Education: Provide oral hygiene and post-operative instructions under dentist guidance.
  • Community Outreach: Participate in school-based and community events to promote oral health.
  • Flexibility: Rotate between programs and sites based on operational needs; support mobile dental unit operations when assigned.

Physical and Technical Requirements

  • Physical: Lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs; prolonged standing and bending.
  • Technical: Working knowledge of Office 365, Dentrix, Dexis, Microsoft Teams
  • Other: Must follow all dental program protocols and safety procedures.
