Description

Avondale House is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit agency that provides educational services to individuals with autism, a day program for adults, where clients receive training in daily living skills and pre-vocational activities, employment services for those with disabilities and four residential homes for individuals unable to live in their own home. Avondale House has been serving individuals with autism since 1976.

Avondale House is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and detail-oriented Direct Support Professional to support day-to-day health services operations, manage medical appointments, and provide transportation to medical appointments for individuals with autism.

Hours:

Flexible Availability Required, Typically M-F, 4-5 hours per day, maximum of 30 hours per week.

Job Duties:

  • Schedules initial, follow-up, routine and emergency medical appointment for residential services.
  • Assists in the preparation of paperwork for all medical appointments including pre-authorizations.
  • Accompanies residents to initial, follow-up, routine and emergency doctor's appointments.
  • Prepares and distributes weekly medical appointment calendar.
  • Works with the QIDP to ensure appropriate residential staff are scheduled to assist with medical appointments as needed.
  • Ensures medical appointment documentation is obtained from each visit and ensures accuracy of information obtained from each visit.
  • Files and updates medical appointment documentation into TMP.
  • Performs light clerical duties for Registered Nurse as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Ability to demonstrate Avondale House Core Values: Commitment, Achievement, Respect, Integrity, Nurturing and Growth.
  • Previous medical office experience is strongly preferred.
  • Must have excellent organizational, communication skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Intermediate user of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Knowledge of Task Master Pro (TMP) is desired.
  • Knowledge of ICF Regulations is desired.
  • Current CPR Certification is required before or immediately after hire.
  • Ability to manage non-compliant and aggressive behaviors through non-violent crisis intervention, according to state regulations and Avondale House policies.
  • Must have experience and comfort level working with individuals with Autism or Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD) is required.
  • Valid driver's license and insurability are required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to implement CPI, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
  • Lifting/ Moving up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand on your feet for 2-3 hours at a time, kneel, bend, stoop, pushing or pulling.
