Nature & Purpose of Position

OB TITLE: Esports Staff (Work Study Eligible)

PAY RATE: $10.00 per hour

JOB FUNCTION: Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Esports program which includes enforcing policies and procedures, overseeing and supervising multiple esports events, and daily communication with student particpants.

HOURS: Up to 25 hours per week. Flexible work schedules ( morning, afternoon, and night shifts)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Main point of contact and responsible for assisting up to 500 participants per shift.
• Responsible for ensureing program integrity, by supervisng online and inperson esports events.
• Provide exceptional customer service to patrons by having strong communication and interacting with everyone in a respectful, cooperative manner.
• Maintain a professional appearance and attitude throughout shifts.
• Serve as a resource by providing accurate and current information regarding updates and evnets.
• Assist Assistant Director with facility operations that include equipment set up and tear down, cleaning, and participant reports.
• Report to authority figures such as program assistants, graduate assistants, and professional staff.
• Assist with other duties as assigned (may result in helping other program areas within Campus Recreation).

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Currently enrolled in 6 or more credit hours at Sam Houston State University
• Successfully pass the State of Texas criminal background check
• Completion of SHSU student employee compliance training and any additional trainings required by the department and university

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Able to work on late nights throughout the week
• Possess a passion for working with people and around sports
• Be able to work in an active, crowded, and fast-paced environment
• Must have an increased focus on being punctual, reliable, and dependable
• Excellent communication skills and the able to work with a wide variety of personalities
• Open to constructive feedback while also keeping a positive and upbeat attitude
• Ability to handle conflict as well as confront patrons in a calm and professional manner
• Access to highspeed internet.
• Ability to stream video to twitch via streamlabs.
• Possess knowledge on Discord moderation, and be able to effectively communicate with students.
