Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery and equipment of the plant. This role requires a hands-on experienced professional with a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair machinery and equipment, including conveyors, pumps, motors, and other mechanical systems.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal operation of the plant equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine appropriate repair solutions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals as needed.
  • Use hand and power tools to perform repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance and operations staff to ensure smooth plant operations.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Document maintenance activities and report any issues to the maintenance supervisor/manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in mechanical maintenance is preferred.
  • 2 - 4 years of experience as a mechanical repairman/millwright, preferably in a cement or similar heavy industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including heavy lifting and working in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work 12 hour rotating shifts, extended hours, and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required.
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions.
  • Walking, climbing stairs and occasional ladders, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, balancing, repetitive motion, driving, and squatting to perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Work outside in adverse weather conditions including extreme temperatures, heavy dust and noisy environments.
  • Must have good hand/eye coordination and vision to safely fulfill all in-plant job requirements.
  • Requires the ability to stand for up to 12-16 hours per day, lift 50 to 80 pounds from the floor to waist height frequently and to push/pull 110 pounds for up to 50 feet consecutively.
  • Must be capable of climbing, kneeling, twisting, and bending in a varied environment.
  • Pass required background check, physical examination and drug screens
