TMD - Inspector V (CFMO Construction Inspector)

Location: Houston, TX

Salary: $60,000 $90,000

Job Overview

Perform advanced (senior-level) military construction inspection work for the Construction and Facilities Management Office (CFMO), primarily for the Southeast Region. In this role you will oversee and conduct inspections, and quality?assurance reviews of capital construction and renovation projects to ensure compliance with laws, building codes, regulations, industry standards, and agency policies. You report to the Design Supervisor and work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site inspections and notify the project team of applicable laws, codes, regulations, industry standards, and agency policies for Texas Military Department construction projects.
  • Review construction design documents and monitor for compliance in the field.
  • Identify and document violations; prepare inspection reports and distribute them weekly to the project team and CFMO leadership.
  • Advise the CFMO Project Manager of issues and recommend resolutions.
  • Assist with substantial completion and warranty inspections and develop punch lists.
  • Verify and document inspection and punch?list corrections.
  • Issue final inspection completion report for project closeout.
  • Review and comment on plans and specifications at key phases of design.
  • Assist with scoping exercises for planning purposes.
  • Verify construction payment applications and project percentages for accuracy.
  • Perform and oversee engineering field tests and advise the project team on courses of action.
  • Monitor and inspect project quality to ensure deliverables meet contract and specifications.
  • Enforce safety and health laws; review contractor safety plans for compliance.
  • Appear at administrative hearings or testify before courts.
  • Perform duties in other Texas regions as needed.
  • Perform duties during emergencies, disasters, nights, weekends as required.
  • Attend regularly and observe approved work hours.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Two years of college or vocational technical training in a construction?related field.
  • Required: Five (5) years of experience in construction compliance and enforcement inspection or related work.
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint.
  • Preferred: Five (5) years as a superintendent or city code compliance officer for interdisciplinary construction projects.
  • Preferred: Project management software experience.
  • Valid drivers license; must obtain a Texas drivers license within 30 days if not a resident.
  • Preferred certification within one year: International Code Council (ICC) Professional Inspector certification (any listed specialty) or OSHA 30?Hour Certification.
