Clinical Laboratory Scientist Part Time Day Shift

The pharmacy technician will assist in preparation and labeling of medications for dispensing to patients. Deliver Pharmacist verified medications to patient care units. The technician will ensure that adequate inventory is in stock and medications are properly stored and security procedures are followed. The technician will maintain and process charges for services rendered.

Required Skills

  1. Manage pharmacy operations, performing administrative duties, and buying pharmaceutical supplies.
  2. Assess the identity, strength and purity of medications.
  3. Order and purchase pharmaceutical supplies, medical supplies, and drugs, maintaining stock and storing and handling it properly.
  4. Maintain records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, control records for radioactive nuclei, and registries of poisons, narcotics, and controlled drugs.
  5. Prepare sterile solutions and infusions for use in surgical procedures and emergency rooms.
  6. Plan, implement, and maintain procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.
  7. Ensures that Standard Universal Precautions and the principles of aseptic and sterile technique are used appropriately.
  8. Ensures compliance of the Hospital with state licensure, Medicare certification and JCAHO accreditation standards.

Required Experience

  • Required
  1. High school graduate or GED certificate recipient

  2. CPhT as required by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy

  3. CPR certified

 4. minimum (1) year hospital experience with PYXIS automation preferred.

6.Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication in American English
