JOB DESCRIPTION
The Executive Practice Leader (EPL) is a senior leadership role accountable for the successful execution of client engagements across Apex's portfolio of technology consulting and solutions projects in the Data and AI Capabilities. In this role, you will drive engagement excellence, deepen client relationships, and foster a high-performance delivery culture. As EPL, you will serve as a strategic delivery leader driving cross-functional collaboration across internal teams and business units. You will lead and mentor internal practice teams to ensure all engagements are in alignment with defined pre-sales objectives and goals, statements of work (SOW) and to the highest quality and standards.
This role requires a blend of strategic vision, practice leadership rigor, and hands-on leadership. The EPL plays a critical role in shaping and directly influencing client satisfaction while contributing to Apex's overall growth.
Strategic Leadership & Delivery Excellence

• Define and execute the Data and AI engagement delivery strategy in support of GTM and growth objectives.
• Oversee the full project lifecycle-from scoping and estimation through delivery, acceptance, and post-implementation support.
• Responsible for building practice maturity, establishing and continuously improving repeatable delivery methodologies, frameworks, accelerators, assets and governance processes.
• Drive a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Client Engagement & Satisfaction

• Serve as one of the executive sponsors for key client accounts, ensuring proactive communication, risk management, and issue resolution.
• Partner with the sales and solution leadership teams to shape solution approaches during pre-sales.
• Maintain high client satisfaction and long-term relationships through consistent delivery excellence.

Operational & Financial Management

• Drive P&L and gross margin performance through engagement team structure, ensuring projects meet profitability targets while maintaining quality.
• Implement resource planning and utilization strategies to maximize efficiency and talent engagement.
• Responsible for managing delivery capacity based on sales pipeline and market demand.

Team Leadership & Talent Development

• Lead, mentor, and develop delivery leadership (e.g., practice directors, managing consultants, solution architects).
• Attract and retain top consulting and technical talent, building a high-performing, collaborative culture.
• Drive professional development to advance delivery skills and domain expertise by supporting the creation of internal accelerators, assets, and proof-of-concept (POC) demos.

Risk & Quality Management

• Identify delivery risks early and implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with contractual commitments, security, and regulatory requirements.
• Drive the creation and maintenance of delivery artifacts that support and maintain best practices, standardization, and consistency in delivery.
• Oversee quality assurance processes to uphold the firm's standards across all projects.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field; Master's preferred.
• 15+ years of experience in technology consulting or systems integration, with at least 8 years in delivery leadership for Data and AI initiatives.
• Proven track record of architecting next-generation Data and AI solutions for global enterprise clients.
• Specialization in building modern data platforms and migrating data workloads to one or more cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Extensive experience with data cloud platforms, particularly Databricks and Snowflake.
• Proficiency with a wide range of tools and technologies, including Kafka, Tableau, Splunk, Elasticsearch, Cloudera, MongoDB, and others.
• Strong understanding of Data and Analytics disciplines, including Data Engineering, Analytics and Visualization, DataOps, and Master Data Management.
• Working knowledge of adjacent solution areas such as Cloud, DevOps, AI, and Cybersecurity as they pertain to Data and Analytics.
• Demonstrated experience delivering data services using Agile methodologies.
• Experience building and deploying GenAI projects, with preferred expertise in AI Governance, including LLMOPs, FinOps, and GRC
• Familiarity with cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP) for AI and data solutions.
• Strong understanding of agentic AI frameworks and how they can be leveraged to modernize workflows, transform business operations, and unlock competitive advantage for our customers.
• Strong understanding of traditional data science & ML models and frameworks, particularly around data transformation and interoperability and MLOPs; preferred hands-on expertise
• Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate vision into execution (i.e. ability to operate in a hands-on leadership capacity).
• Strong Executive-level client relationship management and influencing skills.
• Advanced knowledge of project/program management methodologies (Agile, hybrid, and traditional waterfall).
• Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
• Financial acumen to manage budgets, forecasts, and profitability targets.
• Expected travel up to 20%.
