Kitchell is currently looking to add a Quality Inspector with Healthcare and Higher Education building experience to join our Texas Division in Houston, Texas. Quality Inspector is responsible for providing primary quality efforts on projects as assigned which include inspection and documentation, technical research, and standards interpretation.

This position will have activities in both our Austin and Houston offices. Travel will be 50% daily travel with less than 10% of overnight travel.

Duties & Responsibilities

General

  • Provide primary Quality efforts on projects as assigned which include inspection and documentation, technical research, and standards interpretation.
  • Spend approximately 20% of the time in the office, and the remaining 80% of the time out in the field.
  • Participate in department and project meetings, publishes meeting notes, and performs topical follow-ups.
  • Participate in assigned classes and training events.
Construction Phase
  • Conduct Quality Inspections as assigned.
  • Prepare project inspection reports.
  • Assist project teams with detail and submittal reviews.
  • Assist in preparation of and attend Pre-Assembly Meetings.
  • Observe and document assembly testing when assigned.
  • Participate in project document management.
  • Participate in Quality Department document peer review exercises.
  • Update project schedules and communicate status updates.
Pursuit, Preconstruction and Constructability Phase
  • Assist senior staff with site walks, assembly reviews, and documentation reviews as required.
Forensic Phase
  • Assist senior staff with site walks, assembly reviews and documentation reviews as required.
Requirements

Education and Experience
Required
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 10 years of employment in construction with a minimum of 5 years of employment in construction quality.
Equivalent Education
  • Associate's degree (any) and 8 years of construction experience.
  • Trade school completion or Certification (any) and 8 years of construction experience with a minimum of 5 years in construction quality.
  • Bachelor's degree (any) and 6 years of construction experience with a minimum of 5 years in quality.
Travel Requirement
  • Employees may travel up to 50% of the time including multi-day and out-of-state travel.
  • Valid Motor Vehicle License, clean record with no restrictions or suspensions.
  • Ability to drive a motorized vehicle.
  • Have and maintain the proper identification required for domestic (US) air travel.
