ASME Quality Engineer

Powerwell is a leading recruitment firm helping our clients discover top talent. We are recruiting for an ASME Quality Engineer. This position is fully onsite in Houston, TX. There is no option for a hybrid or remote work schedule. United States Citizenship or a Green Card is required. Candidates must have at least five years of experience in quality engineering with demonstrating capability.

Job Description:

The position is responsible for ensuring compliance with ASME codes or applicable industry standards in the design, manufacturing, and testing of our client's products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality engineering, an understanding of ASME codes or applicable industry standards for piping, tanks and vessels, and the ability to implement and maintain robust quality assurance processes. Experience with Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics (FRP) Products and possessing demonstrating expertise in ASME's RTP-1 code is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and improve quality assurance programs and systems in accordance with the ASME RTP-1 ASME codes or applicable industry standards used in the piping and tanks industry.
  • Conduct audits and inspections of processes, products, and systems to ensure compliance with ASME code or applicable standard or specification requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and other departments to ensure quality standards are met throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and procedures to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Investigate and resolve quality issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions, as necessary.
  • Prepare and maintain quality documentation, including inspection reports, audit findings, and corrective action reports and project data books.
  • Provide training and support to employees on ASME standards and quality assurance practices.
  • Stay current with changes in ASME codes and industry best practices, ensuring the company remains in compliance.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
  • Act as a liaison with customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies on quality-related matters.
Required Skill Sets & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, quality engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in quality engineering with demonstrating capability.
  • Proven experience in quality assurance, auditing (Internal & External), and process improvement.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in quality management software and tools.
  • Drawing reading and understanding skill set is a must.
  • Proven experience in document control is a must.
Desired Skill Sets & Qualifications:
  • Certification in Quality Engineering (CQE) or related certifications is a plus.
  • Expertise in ASME's RTP-1 standard is a plus (Candidates having experience in handling ASME codes or applicable standards to piping and tanks industry for non-FRP products also will be considered).
  • Experience with Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics (FRP) is a plus.
  • Possessing drafting skills using AutoCAD or SolidWorks software is a plus.
