The Opportunity
This role reports to the Director - Supply Chain Materials Management, Logistics & Warehousing and is accountable for the leadership and oversight of TCE's inventory management team located across Canada and the US.
The team supports available, reliable, and sustainable operations of TCE's assets, and the corresponding need for readily available critical and operating spares. The inventory management function at TCE also supports maintenance and integrity program projects with opportunities to effectively source and manage commonly used materials in inventory.
This position provides exposure to TCE's business operations, projects and technical service senior stakeholders. The role is an excellent opportunity to directly impact TCE's bottom line results through advanced planning, collaboration, innovative solutions, efficient management and optimization, and custodianship of more than $350M of inventory across Canada and the US.
As a key leader, the Inventory Manager will develop a high level of subject matter expertise and be accountable for the oversight of team workloads, prioritization, productivity, performance management, troubleshooting and issue resolution, as well as minor conflict resolution. In addition to their direct reports, this leadership role will also be required to indirectly lead and influence several stakeholders and peers.
What You'll Do
Facilitate the sustainment of regular planning cycles to effectively manage inventory and critical sparing for the enterprise
Act as leadership representative on matters relating to inventory addition, critical sparing, and field inventory
Work closely with project integrations teams on operational sparing requirements and inventory additions to support new assets
Sustain repeatable processes for critical spares inventory management, and gains buy-in of stakeholders across SC and BUs to participate in regular program management of inventory reviews and rationalization
Collaborate with Technical Service and Integrity teams to develop long-lead and bulk purchase sparing strategies supporting ongoing general plant maintenance capital and integrity projects
Work with counterparts and Canada & US Warehouse operations teams to coordinate and sustain regular planning cycle for completion of inventory audits (cycle counts)
Responsible for staff development including performance feedback and recognition
Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients and gain their trust and respect
Collaborate with various Supply Chain and Business stakeholders and peers to improve upon existing processes and develop plans to meet company's business requirements
Identify and pursue innovative cost savings and value improvement opportunities
Coach and lead a team of direct reports
Minimum Qualifications
A post-secondary education or equivalent
Minimum of 10-years related experience
High focus on safety and service
Extensive knowledge of inventory management principles
Experience in relevant SAP modules
Knowledge of materials management, inventory controls and warehousing
Experience with conflict resolution and problem-solving tools and processes
Able to work under tight deadlines, with demonstrable strong time management and priority setting skills
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
Experience with advanced tools for Inventory Optimization such as SAP IBP, MROIO, Llamasoft, etc.
Designation or enrollment in a Supply Chain or similar certification program (e.g., CPIM, SCMA, SCMP, CCLP)
