As NASA's largest engineering solutions provider working together with NASA at centers across the United States, we are seeking a Spring 2026 Internship - AI and Astronaut Physiology to join the Human Works Lab, with a focus on Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence. The selected intern will support the development of AI and machine learning models designed to enhance NASA's understanding of the human body in space. This work will contribute to the optimization of fitness and conditioning systems, as well as overall astronaut well-being.
The lab possesses a substantial repository of data to support the development of AI and machine learning models. During this internship, the focus will be on exploratory data analysis, data provenance, and data curationincluding the identification and handling of outliersto produce clean, well-organized, and reliable datasets. These efforts are essential to facilitate the development of robust models and to support more accurate forecasting and protocol design aimed at sustaining physical and psychological performance in long-duration space missions. This is a temporary role not to exceed 12 weeks.
