Harris County Precinct 4 seeks an organized and mission-driven Special Assistant to the Chief Policy and Innovation Officer ("CPIO"). The Policy and Innovationteam advances opportunity and justice through development and implementation of public policy and innovative partnerships. The Special Assistant reports directly to and is responsible for supporting the CPIO through administrative, project management, and quality control work. The role will also require personnel management, writing, editing, interfacing with both internal and external stakeholders, and other high-level administrative functions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Advisor and Assistant to CPIO: Assist CPIO in achieving Policy and Innovation's goals and objectives. Ensure accountability with kindness. Remain aware of the CPIO and the division's immediate and long-term commitments and plans, identify conflicts, flag problems, and course correct as appropriate.
- Personnel Management: Manage and oversee the work of the Policy Administrative Assistant. Ensure timely response to email inquiries, timely submission of Policy and Innovation memos, and scheduling to optimize Policy and Innovation workflow.
- Special Project Management: Oversee special projects assigned by the CPIO. Organize meetings with community stakeholders to discuss policy and innovation. Oversee utilization of project management tools.
- Quality Control: Support the CPIO in editing memos, grant applications, board agendas, and other written documents to ensure writing is clear, compelling, and accurate.
- Administrative Support: Schedule, prepare materials, attend, participate in, and ensure follow-up for various meetings. Manage the implementation of short-term and long-term administrative objectives. Draft and edit various documents including internal/external correspondence, minutes, presentations, and other documents. Manage files and records.
- Other duties as assigned to support the goals of the Policy and Innovation team.

Requirements Education and Experience: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Three (3) years of experience in nonprofit or public sector work.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications including, but not limited to, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Licensure: - Valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Strong attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to concurrently prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines.
