REPORTS TO: Manager of Alumni Transition

POSITION TYPE: Internship

DATES: May 18, 2026 - June 26, 2026; approximately 20 hours per week

COMPENSATION: $20/hour

THE OPPORTUNITY

YES Prep needs a dynamic Alumni Transition Intern with a robust set of experiences, to make our mission a reality. As a YES Prep employee, you will achieve jaw-dropping results, create pathways to opportunity for our students, and build transformative relationships.

To put it simply, you will serve as a support to recent class of 2026 graduates and help them matriculate to their intended college or university.

THE ROLE

When you join the YES Prep team, some of the work and responsibilities will include:

  • Serving as a continuing college counselor or advisor for Class of 2026 recent graduates as they enter their summer transition;
  • Providing academic advising to students and supporting college/university enrollment;
  • Assisting students with completing university housing and meal plan forms;
  • Supporting students with the financial aid process including completing financial aid forms (FAFSA, TASFA, and CSS Profile), interpreting financial aid packages, and navigating student payments;
  • Reviewing student survey responses and categorizing transition priorities;
  • Scheduling advising appointments with recent graduates;
  • Communicating with alumni via text, social media, phone calls, and email;
  • Documenting student advising conversations in online alumni database;
  • Additional duties as assigned.

THE MUST HAVES

  • High School Diploma
  • YES Prep alumni who are rising college juniors, seniors, or recent May 2026 college graduates
  • Strong recommendation from YES Prep staff & current teacher, mentor, or supervisor
  • Related experience with the college transition and admission process, peer mentoring and/or student leadership experience.
  • Cumulative satisfactory academic performance in college courses.
  • Ability to work outside of normal hours and on weekends
  • Openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
  • Ability to work urgently in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment
  • Creates and maintains positive working relationships on a team and/or in a highly collaborative environment
  • A dedication to learn, grow, and develop as a professional
