POSITION OVERVIEW
THIS IS A PART-TIME POSITION

THIS POSITION MAY END AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE NEEDS OF THE DEPARTMENT

Under the general supervision of the Crimes Against Children supervisors, the Part-Time Deputy performs duties related to scheduling and attending forensic interviews, initial case screening, ordering grand jury subpoenas and records, and collaborating with Child Protective Services and the Children's Assessment Center's personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend Forensic Interviews
  • Prepare detailed reports
  • Subpoena medical records, therapy records, and any other items needed for case presentation
  • CPS Referrals and Case Screening
  • Testify in court
  • Assist other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
  • Perform other assignments and duties as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be an Honorably Retired Peace Officer
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in law enforcement, record management, or a related field
  • Must have an active TCOLE Peace Officer License
  • Prior experience in conducting conflict resolutions
Knowledge of:
  • Excellent understanding and application of the Texas Penal Code as it pertains to criminal offenses
Skilled In:
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office 365, SUPERION/RMS
  • Proficient in report writing and communication skills, with strong organizational skills
Ability To:
  • Screen cases
  • Prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment to meet strict deadlines.
  • Handle the stress associated with screening reports involving physical and sexual abuse of children
  • Work independently, as well as in a team environment.

HOURS:
  • A minimum of 20 hours per week with a maximum of 30 hours per week
