JOB DESCRIPTION:
Direct and manage the Child Nutrition operations in District facilities. Plan and implement programs that fulfill regulatory requirements, meet the nutritional practices, and maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensure that food service operations are supportive of the instructional goals of the District.
  2. Promote a positive caring climate for learning.
  3. Utilize effective interpersonal skills.
  4. Assess and respond to needs related to job responsibilities.
  5. Contribute to the recommendation of sound policies directed toward program involvement.
  6. Develop and design feasible projects to support the implementation of innovations.
  7. Prepare, review, and revise job descriptions within the Child Nutrition Department.
  8. Develop training operations and/or improvement plans to ensure the best operation in the area of Child Nutrition.
  9. Plan, implement, and support District programs for recruitment, selection, orientation, and assignment of District employees.
  10. Evaluate job performance of employees.
  11. Make sound recommendations related to personnel placement, transfer, retention, and dismissal.
  12. Direct and manage the District's food service programs.
  13. Ensure that programs are cost effective and funds are managed prudently.
  14. Compile budgets and cost estimates based upon documented program needs.
  15. Implement and ensure compliance with the policies established by Federal and State law, State Board of Education rules, and local Board policy in the area of child nutrition.
  16. Assume responsibility for compiling, maintaining, and filing all reports, records, and required documents.
  17. Assist with the development of cost effective and efficient system for procurement of all goods and non-food materials meeting Federal procurement and TDA standards.
  18. Establish and direct the process for free and reduced lunch applications following USDA and TDA guidelines for meal eligibility and reimbursement of Federal Funds.
  19. Provide campus administration with regular updates regarding students' eligibility for free and reduced lunch.
  20. Provide campus administration with regular updates regarding students' outstanding lunch balances.
  21. Assist with preparing, updating and distributing the Triennial Assessment to campus administration.
  22. Assist the School Health Advisory Council with developing the District Wellness Plan.
  23. Assist the Superintendent of Operations.
  24. Ensure the security measures are taken to protect food, supplies, and equipment in school cafeterias, lunchrooms, and warehouse facilities.
  25. Demonstrate support for the District's student management policies and expected student behavior related to child nutrition operations.
  26. Take the initiative to develop needed professional skills appropriate to job assignments.
  27. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible and serve as a role model for all District staff.
  28. Articulate the District's mission and goals in the area of food service to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
  29. Demonstrate awareness of District-community needs and initiates activities to meet those identified needs.
  30. Demonstrate the use of appropriate and effective techniques for community and parent involvement.
  31. Perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in child nutrition management
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in school food service environment
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree in foods and nutrition, dietetics, management, or related field
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Knowledge of USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture) and TDA (Texas Department of Agriculture) regulations
  • Knowledge of menu planning, food purchasing, and preparation of foods in a school food service environment
  • Ability to manage budget and personnel
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare reports
  • Proficient in point of sale, nutrition, and inventory software
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

SALARY:
PAY GRADE: AB - 6 - Minimum pro-rated salary - $111,102
DAYS: 226 START DATE: 2025-2026 School Year
