Wastewater Engineer

Location: Houston, Texas
Salary Range: $120,000 - $170,000 annually
Job Type: Full-Time | On-Site

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Wastewater Engineer to support the planning, design, and optimization of wastewater treatment systems for municipal and industrial projects. This role is essential in ensuring regulatory compliance, environmental protection, and effective water resource management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize wastewater treatment processes, systems, and infrastructure.
  • Prepare engineering plans, specifications, reports, cost estimates, and technical documentation.
  • Perform hydraulic and process modeling for treatment plants and collection systems.
  • Conduct site assessments, system evaluations, and troubleshooting for operational issues.
  • Provide construction support including field inspections, contractor coordination, and submittal review.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (EPA, TCEQ, municipal standards).
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineering teams, environmental specialists, and clients.
  • Support permitting activities, proposal development, and technical presentations.
  • Analyze data, monitor system performance, and recommend upgrades or operational improvements.
Qualifications
  • Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license required at the time of application.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-7 years of experience in wastewater engineering or water/wastewater project work.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D, GIS, and relevant process modeling software.
  • Deep knowledge of wastewater treatment technologies, hydraulics, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with biological treatment processes, membrane systems, and sludge handling.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems and instrumentation.
  • Prior experience working with municipal clients in the Greater Houston area.
