Description:

MAU is hiring a Sr. R&D Engineer - Drilling Fluids for our client in Houston, TX. As a Sr. R&D Engineer - Drilling Fluids, you will lead product development initiatives for new drilling fluids, leveraging technical expertise to support innovation and customer success in the energy sector. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

Shift Information
  • Monday to Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in drilling fluids and/or drilling fluid additives
  • Strong working knowledge of how drilling fluids are used in different formations
  • Prior lab and product development experience
  • Experience using personal protective equipment and familiarity with common laboratory safety practices
  • Experience with project management software or systems for planning experiments, analyzing data, and generating reports
Preferred Education and Experience
  • 8+ years of R&D experience in drilling fluids, cementing, and production chemicals
  • Lab management experience, including writing procedures and implementing safety best practices
  • Experience working closely with a manufacturing plant
  • Established relationships in the drilling fluids industry
  • Experience delivering technical presentations to customers or partners
General Requirements
  • Ability to independently and collaboratively lead technical development projects
  • Proficiency with R&D and manufacturing equipment and test instruments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organizational skills for maintaining detailed documentation in electronic and paper formats
  • Knowledge of ISO procedures and practices
Essential Functions
  • Work independently and collaboratively to develop new products for the oil and gas drilling industry
  • Identify unmet market needs and contribute to the new product development pipeline
  • Supervise and plan laboratory work; direct technicians and develop new procedures to support product development, scale-up, raw material qualification, production, and customer support
  • Provide written and verbal reports and project status updates to internal and external stakeholders
  • Support process engineering initiatives to improve production yield and profitability
  • Document and manage project deadlines; summarize progress, results, and next steps in formal reports
  • Operate appropriate R&D and manufacturing equipment and test instruments proficiently
  • Identify and plan new development projects in response to customer and market demands
  • Follow and promote ISO procedures
  • Maintain well-organized documentation for research activities
  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety within laboratory environments
  • Identify and apply proper safety labels on product containers
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Working Conditions
  • Based at the Houston, TX (Wallisville Road) site
  • Work performed in laboratory and manufacturing environments
  • Up to 25% travel within North America
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to meet physical demands consistent with lab and plant work
  • Use of personal protective equipment required
