Investment Accountant

In this role, you'll ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company's investment financials by analyzing data, preparing reconciliations, and supporting key reporting processes. You'll collaborate with a dedicated accounting team, gain exposure to complex investment instruments, and contribute to a culture of excellence, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compile and analyze financial information related to the Company's investments in order to prepare and post entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document business transactions.
  • May perform general ledger duties to assist with monthly activity and closings.
  • Analyze and approve basic monthly balance sheet reconciliations and prepare monthly reconciliation of long-term investments reports from outside vendor.
  • Review past due income items and run impairment schedule in vendor system.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors to correct issues and problems that arise during monthly processing.
  • Prepare and review monthly bank reconciliations for specified accounts.
  • Proactively detect, research, and resolve reconciliation items.
  • Analyze and document variances in account balances between periods.
  • Prepare various schedules required for quarterly and annual statutory reporting.
  • Administer pledged securities portfolio.
  • Assist in providing data requested by external auditors.

Position Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements

Education

Minimum 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or the equivalent education and/or experience

Certifications, Licenses, and Designations | Preferred Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation

Experience

2+ Years of relevant and progressive professional experience in Accounting and/or Finance

Other

  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Statutory Accounting Principles.
  • Possess and have ability to apply knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Advanced organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments related to applicable areas of the company's business to proactively respond to a changing business environment.
  • Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word).
