Maintenance Supervisor

The Maintenance Supervisor plays a critical role in coordinating efforts between Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations. This position is responsible for daily and long-term planning of the workforce, parts, and materials to ensure efficient maintenance execution. They provide technical guidance, oversee scheduled maintenance and projects, and are accountable to the Maintenance Manager for resource utilization. Additionally, they support the development of a skilled and effective maintenance team and maintain accurate job plans and records to optimize both planned and emergency work.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Workforce and Contractor Oversight: Supervise maintenance staff and contractors, managing performance, discipline, overtime, and attendance in line with company policy and union agreements. Ensure safe work practices, good housekeeping (5S), and compliance with EHSSQ standards. Lead safety meetings, audits (including CLI), and contractor evaluations.
  • Planning, Scheduling & Execution: Plan and schedule daily and long-term maintenance activitiesincluding shutdownsby developing detailed job packages (labor, parts, permits, methods). Monitor job progress, ensure quality execution, and adjust plans as needed. Maintain a two-week rolling schedule to maximize labor utilization and meet operational needs.
  • SAP PM System & Work Order Management: Serve as the SAP PM module custodianensuring accurate equipment data, PM triggers, BOMs, work history, and proper backlog prioritization. Oversee transition from work requests to "schedule-ready" status, track labor/material usage, and sign off on completed work orders with detailed failure and repair documentation.
  • Continuous Improvement & Reporting: Develop training plans, conduct on-the-job coaching, and complete formal performance evaluations. Support TPM, PSM/MI guidelines, and reliability programs. Drive improvements through management of change (MOC), root cause analyses, and small capital projects. Regularly report on KPIs such as PM/schedule compliance, backlog trends, MTBF, and work efficiency.
  • Collaboration & Backup: Partner with the Production Maintenance Coordinator to manage maintenance operations. Act as backup during their absence. Collaborate across departments to ensure maintenance supports operational goals and safety compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology with 5+ years of process plant experience, or 10+ years of maintenance experience, including 3+ years in planning and scheduling.
  • Direct supervisory experience (minimum 3 years).
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP PM; CMRP certification preferred or willingness to obtain within 2 years.
  • Solid mechanical and project management expertise.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); MS Project experience a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, drive structure, and lead change in maintenance environments.
