Cloud Engineer III Chevron has an outstanding reputation in the industry for process driven methodology and for being on the cutting edge of Technology and Security. Chevron is seeking a Cloud Engineer III to support CTC in Houston, TX. Join the team as an Infrastructure analyst responsible for designing and deploying and maintaining infrastructure solutions that support application and other core services that require compute and storage across the enterprise. You will partner with architects, cloud engineers, other infrastructure and application experts to provide application hosting solutions that fully leverage the computing and storage resources on premise and in the cloud. This includes the development of new implementations as well as the analysis and enhancement of existing solutions to advance business capabilities. While focused on on premise infrastructure, the role requires a good understanding of cloud capabilities and software development concepts. Cloud Engineers are IT professionals who design, implement, and manage cloud based systems for businesses. They develop and implement cloud applications, migrate existing on premise applications to the cloud, and debug cloud stacks. The position is initially slated for 6 months, the project has the potential to extend. Cloud Engineer Roles and Responsibilities: ¿ Working in tandem with our engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud based solutions for the company. ¿ Planning, designing and developing cloud based applications. ¿ Managing cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines. ¿ Deploying and debugging cloud initiatives as needed in accordance with best practices throughout the development lifecycle. ¿ Educating teams on the implementation of new cloud based initiatives, providing associated training as required. ¿ Employing exceptional problem solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they snowball into problems. ¿ Using your extensive knowledge of APIs to design RESTful services, and integrate them with existing data providers, using JSON or XML as needed. ¿ Building and designing web services in the cloud, along with implementing the set up of geographically redundant services. ¿ Orchestrating and automating cloud based platforms throughout the company. ¿ Stay current with industry trends, making recommendations as needed to help the company excel. Cloud Engineer Skills/Requirements: ¿ 5 7+ years of Cloud Engineering experience ¿ Bachelor¿s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering ¿ Experience with SOA applications and cloud based services, preferably AWS. ¿ Experience working with OpenStack, Linux/UNIX, Rackspace, Docker and Microsoft Azure. ¿ Knowledge of web services, API, REST and RPC. ¿ Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks. ¿ Database experience, including knowledge of SQL and NoSQL, and related data stores such as Postgres. ¿ Extensive experience with open source technology, software development and system engineering. ¿ Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to stay focused on completing tasks and meeting goals within a busy workspace. ¿ Interest in Cloud Engineering and its impact on greater business practices. ¿ Skilled at working in tandem with a team of engineers, or alone as required. ¿ Agile project experience required. ¿ Candidates local to Houston area required. Preferred Qualifications ¿ Master¿s degree a plus. ¿ Strong infrastructure and networking background / experience related to DNS, HA technologies or equivalent. ¿ Knowledge and experience with Ansible, PowerShell or DevOps programming / scripting. ¿ Certification as an AWS Solutions Architect, Cloud Security Certification, and/or OpenStack Administrator Certification a plus.
