Primary Purpose:

To contribute to the efficient operation of the academic center.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must have an Associate's Degree OR have a minimum of 48 semester hours of higher education coursework OR pass a district test

Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Demonstrate aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
  • Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office Suite programs with the ability to use software to develop spreadsheets, and compile data
  • Ability to multi-task complex administrative activities

Experience:
  • Two (2) years' secretarial experience preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Clerical Support
  • Maintain order of materials in the storeroom and counter area of the academic center.
  • Monitor students in the academic center.
  • Distribute/retrieve textbooks, PAKs, calculators, computer mice, videos, CDs, etc. to/from students (document when necessary).
  • Keep PAKs organized and current.
  • Organize forms, etc., appropriate for the department.
  • Serve as alternate paraprofessional in the testing center one hour per day.

Other
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
  • Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of Non-Instructional Paraprofessional Personnel.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals

Posture: Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head

Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; possible district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

Pay Grade: CSP2

2025-2026 Salary Range Min. $23,065 Mid. $27,349 Max. $31,634 (Based on previous experience)

Salaries are determined by the number of completed and eligible years of service at an accredited school.

Salary is based on 187 days. If working less than 187 days, the salary will be less.
