JOB DESCRIPTION:
Implement the District Development Guidance Plan responding to the unique needs of the individual student.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develops a campus-Level Counselor Action Plan based on identified school need according to the TEA Developmental Guidance Program.
2. Conducts individual and group counseling.
3. Assists individual students in demonstrating self-confidence in reaching educational goals.
4. Confers with students, parents, and teachers when needed.
5. Conducts individual personal/academic student and parent conferences.
6. Conducts individual and group counseling.
7. Assists with student classroom and program placement.
8. Provides parents and students with information regarding campus and district programs.
9. Assists with testing as needed.
10. Assists in the referral process and educational placement of students with special needs.
11. Provides orientation sessions for parents and students.
12. Provides college and career awareness activities.
13. Adheres to time lines and procedures.
14. Services on district Crisis Team.
15. Plays active role in dropout prevention.
16. Meets deadlines as established by the PEIMS/technology departments for scheduling, grade reporting, and pupil data information.
17. Maintains calendar schedule of counselor activities.
18. Attends required District in-service and staff meetings.
19. Maintains student records.
20. Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships.
21. Serves as a resource for students, parents and staff members to access community resources.
22. Cooperates with and supports faculty and staff.
23. Coordinates and/or teaches anti-victimization and bullying programs.
24. Demonstrates self-control and exhibits overall positive approach.
25. Promotes positive self-image in students.
26. Treats students consistently and empathetically.
27. Initiates procedures to analyze and modify, as necessary, performance of duties based on self-analysis, feedback from students and interactions with colleagues.
28. Maintains and improves professional competence through reading, course work, and professional activities.
29. Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:

• Experience working with students in an educational setting or with school-aged children
• Experience supporting students/school-aged children in crisis situations

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:

• Master's Degree
• Professional school counselor's certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Knowledge of counseling procedures, student appraisal, and college and career awareness
• Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to instruct students to develop psychosocial skills
• Instruct students in accordance with the TEA Comprehensive Guidance Program model
• Knowledge and experience in the use and interpretation of various testing instruments
• Knowledge of academic curriculum
• Knowledge/awareness of how to access community resources

SALARY:
Pay Grade AE-3 - Minimum pro-rated salary - $74,746
