JOB SUMMARY

The Recreation Specialist assists with a variety of multi-generational programs and special events for the Parks and Recreation Department. Responsibilities include marketing assistance and implementation of assigned programs and events; some program and event development; some sponsor development; knowledge and enforcement of City of Conroe policies, rules and regulations; and monitoring contractors and vendors. Ingenuity and independent thinking are required under general supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in relevant field preferred.
• One year of related experience required; multiple years of related experience preferred.

Special Requirements:

• Possession of a valid class "C" Texas driver's license or higher.
• Ability to obtain relevant certifications.
• Must comply with City of Conroe direct deposit payroll policy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of programming concepts is essential to carry out the required duties.
• Skill in public program and event delivery, staff/ volunteer supervision and cash handling.
• Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Main Server applications.
• Ingenuity and independent thinking.
• Ability to interact directly utilizing excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate designated programs and events.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is medium requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, fingering, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, reaching, speaking, standing, talking and walking.
