Pride Health is hiring a Lab Assistant to support our client's medical facility based in Houston, TX 77072.

This is a Contract job with a possible extension opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!

Position Name: Lab Assistant

Pay rate: $17.20/hr

Location: Houston, TX 77072

Duration: 5 months, with a possible contract to hire

Shift: Tues-Sat 12 PM-8:30 PM CST---2nd shift

Job Summary:

· Receive and sort clinical lab specimens.

· Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.

· Scan and/or data entry of specimens and patient information.

· Sort specimens into their appropriate department or Hamilton pipetting.

· Assists with loading and unloading of specimens on the Hamilton pipetting platform including capping and uncapping samples, labeling aliquot tubes, pulling errors, and sorting aliquots.

· Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance.

· Returns specimens to appropriate locations.

· Performs discard and relocation of specimen racks.

· Replenish test bench supplies as needed.

· Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

· Adhere to the standard operating procedures and safety requirements of Esoteric, CLIA, CAP and other regulatory bodies.

· Documents all quality assurance activities as necessary including preventative maintenance logs, instrument function checks, troubleshooting, and quality control to ensure regulatory compliance.

· Follow any other job-related instructions and perform any other job-related duties requested by department management.

Requirements:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Ability to lift to 15lbs.

· Flexibility to work overtime as needed.

· Strong communication skills.

· Both written and verbal.

· Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.

· Must pass a standardized color blindness test.

Required Work Experience:

· Previous medical/lab or production experience is preferred.

· Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills preferred.
