Position Title: MEP Mechanical Designer/Engineer

Location: Sugar Land, Texas (On-Site)

Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Designer/Engineer to join our dynamic MEP team in the Sugar land, Texas area. This on-site position will focus on the design, coordination, and documentation of mechanical systems for a variety of commercial and institutional building projects. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of mechanical systems design and hands-on experience in the MEP industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical piping systems in accordance with local codes, standards, and project specifications.

  • Prepare detailed construction drawings, specifications, and calculations using AutoCAD, Revit, and other design tools.

  • Perform load calculations, equipment selection, duct sizing, and pipe sizing for mechanical systems.

  • Collaborate with electrical, plumbing, architectural, and structural teams to ensure fully coordinated designs.

  • Participate in project planning meetings and provide technical support throughout both the design and construction phases.

  • Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs (Requests for Information), and assist with field coordination during construction.

  • Conduct on-site visits for field verification, surveys, and system inspections.

  • Stay current with industry trends, code updates, and emerging technologies related to mechanical systems design.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (required for the Engineer role).

  • An Associate Degree or technical certification is acceptable for the Designer role, with relevant experience in mechanical system design.

  • 2-7 years of experience in mechanical system design, particularly within the MEP or building services industry.

  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit MEP; experience with HVAC load calculation software (such as Trane Trace or HAP) is a plus.

  • Solid understanding of local codes, regulations, and best practices in mechanical systems design.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with complex commercial and institutional building projects.

  • Familiarity with energy-efficient design practices and sustainable building systems.

  • Exposure to construction site coordination and fieldwork.
