Job Summary:

As a fully competent Registered Professional Engineer, the Senior Professional Engineer performs work involving the application of all conventional aspects of engineering to the functions area of the project. The Senior Professional Engineer exercises judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT is required. Should have a mastery of the codes, Wylie Engineering's design process, and able to consistently complete job deliverables and deadlines on time. The Senior Professional Engineer should be a leader on the team and should focus on communication and coordination with project managers, team leader, team members, etc. and always display professionalism when working with clients. The Senior Professional Engineer will also assist in training down to other team members on how Wylie Engineering's design process works and will be a resource for questions regarding design issues and practices. This engineer will also be responsible for keeping their department informed about new codes and code changes.

Responsibilities:

  • The design process should be mastered therefore design for projects should be free of errors and should be accurate and complete.
  • Enhance current design practices to improve upon inefficiencies and errors.
  • Will be responsible for more complex projects that may require more analytical problem solving.
  • Provide leadership to other team and department members by training them to be self-sufficient members of the team.
  • Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT.
  • Provide guidance and leadership for discipline, time management, and professionalism.
  • Excellent communication with owners and architects regarding design, questions, or issues
  • Answer design questions from team members, team leader, and project manager.
  • Display exceptional coordination with peers, team members, owners, architects, utilities, etc.
  • Communication with team leader and project managers about project related questions and problems.
  • Help keep department informed about codes changes, new code requirements, and new technologies.
  • Anticipates design issues and proactively looks for solutions that best benefit the owner and Wylie Engineering.
  • Set up and edit specifications for jobs. Be able to train other team members on specification process.
  • Maintain and update specifications as needed.
  • Aid department in maintaining good written design standards.
  • Write Addendums, review submittals, and answer RFIs and ASIs in a professional and timely manner.
  • Help train less experienced team members to learn how to trach job schedules, deadlines, RFIs, ASIs, emails, etc.
  • Aid organization of department by keeping up with details and symbols. Also, by learning new software, tools, etc.
  • Conduct field work as needed for design which may include by is not limited to extensive walking, the ability to drive to a job site, climbing on a ladder, crawling through crawlspaces, and walking on a roof.

Education/Experience:

  • Degree in Engineering from an accredited university. Must have passed the Fundaments of Engineering test.
  • P.E. in the state of Texas.
  • 8 to 15 years of progressive post graduate work experience.
  • AutoCAD experience required.
  • REVIT experience required.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (in the state of Texas), preferred.
