JOB SUMMARY
Working in a team environment, the Payroll Specialist plans, coordinates, and performs various fiscal and accounting functions of the City of Conroe. Duties are primarily relative to payroll and general accounting; however, other areas are assigned on as needed basis.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred. Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred. Three years of experience in a similar position in a municipal or other governmental finance department required. Computer system experience required.
Special Requirements:
Knowledge of payroll applications preferred. Active member of American Payroll Association preferred. Two years of experience with Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel, are required. Possession of a valid class "C" Texas driver's license required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is sedentary and requires the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: fingering, grasping, hearing, mental acuity, repetitive motions, speaking, and talking.
