About the job Project Director - Transmission and Substations
Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee complex project teams comprising global resources, multiple partners, and project managers to deliver high-quality transmission, distribution, and substation projects.
Manage a multimillion-dollar portfolio of EPC and services projects, ensuring alignment with client expectations, project scope, and organizational goals.
Build and maintain relationships with multiple clients, including the negotiation and finalization of high-value contracts exceeding $50 million in the energy utility space.
Oversee risk management processes for EPC transmission, distribution, and substation projects, addressing challenges proactively to ensure project success.
Act as a cultural leader, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment across diverse project teams.
Provide mentorship and supervision to project managers, contributing to their professional growth and ensuring high standards of project execution.
Drive business growth by identifying opportunities for repeat and new business, leading key negotiations with client executives.
Promote safety as a core value, ensuring adherence to safety protocols across all projects and encouraging a safety-first mindset among team members.
Interface with other Black & Veatch solutions, including BESS and private networks, to provide integrated services to clients and drive innovative energy solutions.
Travel to project and client sites as needed, with hybrid work flexibility when not traveling (3 days in-office, 2 days remote).
Qualifications:
Experience:
15+ years of relevant industry experience, including at least one of the following:
5+ years as a Senior Project Manager for an EPC firm focusing on transmission, distribution, or substations (overhead, underground, or HV).
5+ years in a leadership role for EPC T&D/Substation projects with direct accountability.
5+ years in a project leadership role in utility-scale T&D/Substation construction and/or design.
