Cost Estimating
Learns Marek's estimating tools, technology and approach as it relates to estimating and pricing change orders
Estimates and provides pricing for work orders and change orders
Develops base foundation of product knowledge, market structure and conditions, and drawings and specifications as they relate to estimating and pricing changes, etc.
Project Management
Partners with field leaders and customer to assist in planning pre-job, including identifying and resolving potential scope, schedule, sequence, contract, budget, safety, material staging or manpower issues, and developing appropriate internal cost code structure
Proactively asks questions when he or she does not understand construction documents
Develops a fair and achievable budget for labor, material and equipment and provides the budget in a timely manner, before the job starts
Submits RFIs, prices work order or change orders and creates submittals
Solicits competitive proposals and buyout of materials, vendors and subcontractors
Responds quickly to requests and queries from both Marek field leaders and the customer
Engages in regularly scheduled production look-ahead meetings
Ensures timely and effective billing and collections
Works side-by-side with Marek field leadership and the customer to manage ongoing labor and material costs and beat the budget
Effectively utilizes cost reporting to keep score
Is regularly present on the job to support Marek field team and effectively navigate safety, cost and quality-impact issues
Captures, organizes and maintains project documentation to mediate potential risk of back charges
Provides feedback throughout the lifecycle of the project to estimators to improve future estimates and bids

Understands and articulates Marek's safety program
Attends tool box talks and stretch and flex on the jobsite
Actively seeks to increase personal knowledge and understanding of safety by walking the job with Marek field, PM or safety leaders

Experience and Education
Experience
Exposure to or experience in commercial construction industry managing projects, preferably in general contracting or drywall and interiors, is a plus
Field experience a plus
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or related field of study or High School Diploma/GED with equivalent work experience
Skills
Knowledge of construction practices and project management methods
Strong relationship building skills
Strong numerical and reasoning skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products; specifically Outlook, Word and Excel
Experience or exposure to estimating, scheduling and/or project management technology a plus (Quick Bid, On-Screen Take-Off, project management and blueprint collaboration software such as Bluebeam, PlanGrid, etc.)
Working Conditions
Will work in a variety of conditions: in the office, out in the field visiting potential or active construction jobsites, and out at customer meetings, industry events, etc.

Scope of Responsibility
Capable of managing less complex projects, generally of a smaller dollar value, and/or assisting a more senior Project Manager on a larger project.
Typically acts under the guidance of a more experienced Project Manager or Manager.

Building a sphere of influence to include interaction with internal Marek team(s), Estimating Technical Support, Customer Service and Sales Representative(s), various GC Estimator(s), Project Manager(s), Field Supervisor(s), Architect(s) and Designer(s).
